Lots of pictures today. Went to Jenolan Caves. The caves, lizards and forrest walk was awesome. The road to get here..... well it was a little stressful for myself. The roads were wet and it had rained in the area before we got here so debris on the roads were terrible. Now add in 15km/hr switchback turns all the way to the bottom. Not cool. Moreso, was the road closed sign to get out by another route. I was not comfortable at all and let David know there was no way I could go up those switchbacks as steep as they were without dropping a borrowed bike. He assured me I could do it. Come to find out, the road opened in a hour, which was perfect timing for us to visit the caves and walks while waiting.
A platypus lives here. We did not get a change to see him.
another issue, buckets fork seals where leaking, badly
Notice his fix... the box. That was an interesting purchase he said.
Yes, those are panty liners attached with zip ties so they do not leak on his breaks. Brilliant. Apparently you shouldn't leave home without them.
We had 225km to Katoomba so once the road opened we took it. Peter had left the group along the way. Leaving Jenolan Caves, which the road leaving was way nicer than the one coming in. I quite enjoyed the road, even with its tighter turns and debris. We came along some wild Wallabys. So naturally I walked down to feed them a stash of biscuits (cookies) I had in my back pack.
He heard the crinkling of the package and decided to come see what it was about.
There was a lady with bread off to the left feeding another one, as Dan and Becky came up they noticed and stopped as well. Becky grabbed the bread from the ground to feed the smaller one.
We did make a stop to view the 3 sisters, which is a rock formation, and other mountains in Echo Park, prior to getting our room. Echo park is where we met Bad Santa from the site or Trig is his name. Interesting, good fellow.
This is a sky carrier that brings you from one section of the mountain to another, this one was quite steep and brings you to the bottom of the mountain across from it. (we end up riding all 3 of these tomorrow)
We got our rooms at the 3 sisters motel. We were a bit hungry and dinner wouldn't be for a few hours so we walked to the corner to see what we could see. Amazingly the first thing we came to was a chocolate and coffee shop. This was right up everyones alley. So we popped in. I ordered a mocha latte and a piece of chocolate cake with mint ice cream. OMG, was the mocha latte big enough??
This particular chocolate company ships out from the web. It is also on the tour bus routes found in the area.It was HUGE! It had a scoop of ice cream in it! Who does that? If I had known, I wouldn't have ordered the following...
Simply decadent.
Had a wonderful dinner at the 3 sisters hotel. Geetar Paul and his wife came out and joined us for dinner and to hang out. Here we were planning to stay 2 nights. So washing was in order. Margaret, the hotel owner, was more than accommodating and let us use her hotel's washing machine. We had gotten sprinkled on a couple times today but managed to miss the rain. I borrowed a carafe and made some long sought after iced tea. They don't have iced tea in Australia. Its like prison, man! haha.
