Our hard protective helmet bags came in and I'm very pleased with them. We are going to zip tie them together to become only one bag to check. Making it easier on the airline and ourselves. But more importantly to avoid them throwing around our helmets like balls. I just imagined them doing that to my helmet and decided to take precautions.
I must say I'm a little concerned as it always seems like you tend to get sick or a slight cold that lingers or something seems to be ailing you right before your trip. David's allergies turned into a sinus infection and now sounds like it's going to his chest. Good thing he emailed the physician early and got started on antibiotics. As for myself, I haven't been feeling very well lately with stomach pain and shoulder pain. I'm hoping the stomach pain is simply due to stress and it'll all go away once I land in Australia. The shoulder pain... well I'm just SOL.
Packing....
So we are approaching spring here in the states but it will be approaching fall in Australia. With the average temperatures around 70 F in Melbourne and close to 90s as you move North to Queensland and very little rainfall, packing should be rather easy. Or so you would think. We don't have the motorcycle bags here and can only guess what's going to fit in them. (Being a female I gots to have me room for my toiletries.
10 days of clothes. Each day gathered and put in waterproof travel bags to roll the air out. Under garments, short sleeve shirt and this time workout pants or bike shorts to wear underneath my Kevlar jeans. Separate bag for a few extra clothes like a pair of jeans, pair of shorts, and a long sleeve under armour shirt.
Ok so then motorcycle jacket, gloves, helmet, hydration backpack and boots....ugg! Getting into the heavier stuff here. With a 12hr layover in California, we plan on visiting Venice beach and lunching with Dan and Becky to kill time. They will have a rental. The question remains, should we wear our jackets and boots from Virginia to sunny California for the day? Well it would take care of the heavy bulky items that may put us over our 50lb checked bag limit, but certainly doesn't seem practical when walking and enjoying California. Even if we put flip flops on and put our boots, jackets and carry ons in the car, we would still have to have our boots and jacket for a very long, 16 hr economy flight. Decisions. Decisions.
I'm missing 5 days of matched clothes and the hydration pack in the pic.
Will be great to finally meet you guys in a little over a week now .. just starting to collect things to add in gear bags as well..
